Biggest matchup problems for Texas A&M football in 2024: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

I have to admit, I was a bit cynical on the Campbell pickup when he committed to the Bayou Bengals back in 2022. He has done nothing but prove me wrong since that point, though, and has been a stalwart on what, at times, has been a porous OL for the Tigers.

Campbell is another one who is actually projected to go quite high in the upcoming draft. He's rated by several outlets as the best offensive tackle in the country, and for good reason. He's a brick wall on the offensive front and a road grader when he's out run blocking.

This list doesn't necessarily lend itself to ranking an offensive tackle, given the criteria I set up, but I do think Campbell poses a legitimate matchup problem for the Aggies. An OL as talented as he is can completely shut down half of your pass rush for most of the game, if you let him.

Of course, this is the type of player that Elko faced when Alabama came to town in 2021 with Evan Neal at tackle. Even so, he was able to pressure Bryce Young throughout the game with creative blitz packages and exotic schemes. The defense for Texas A&M football will have to have a similar plan for LSU if they hope to work past Campbell.
