Biggest matchup problems for Texas A&M football in 2024: Cam Coleman, WR, Auburn

This one really stings, but I have to put it in here. Coleman, who was a longtime Texas A&M football commit, flipped to the Auburn Tigers close to signing day. Finishing as the third-ranked recruit overall in the composite, Coleman would have been the headliner of the Aggie class had he stuck with A&M.

As things stand, though, he ended up on the Plains, and is the second-highest rated recruit to ever land there out of high school. With the advent of the transfer portal, such a result means less than it used to, but Coleman is a guy that the right people are willing to make sure stays around, and he doesn't strike me as particularly flighty in any case.

Coleman's size and speed are what make him such an issue when matching up. Standing at every bit of 6'3", Coleman is also a flash on the field, with elite ball skills to boot. Though just a freshman, I feel sure that he will be featured prominently by the time the Aggies face off against the Tigers in late November.

The biggest question is whether they will have a QB down on the Plains who can effectively get the ball to Cam. Signal caller was a big issue for the Tigers last year, and they didn't do much to improve it over this past offseason, so the Aggies may be able to temper Coleman's impact somewhat if they make life tough on the Auburn QB.
