We take a look at the names that could have helped this Texas A&M football team the most in 2024—ones that the Aggies almost closed on.

Transfer portal misses for Texas A&M football: TE Brady Hunt

Now, we get into the second category: the “ones that got away” for Texas A&M football. Brady Hunt is the strangest of these cases, in my opinion, as he was never actually committed to the Aggies. Instead, he gave a verbal to the South Carolina Gamecocks early on.

Even so, he still made his way to campus in College Station, and some smoke began to emanate around his recruitment flipping momentum in a Maroon and White direction. So much so that, unless I’m mistaken, Elko actually put out a commitment tweet in regard to Hunt.

But the announcement never actually materialized. Hunt’s social medias stayed silent, despite the huge amounts of momentum reportedly going on behind the scenes. That momentum would peter out in the following days, and Hunt ended up enrolling at South Carolina.

The Aggies grabbed quite a few high-caliber TEs in the end, but given how Klein’s system works, you can never have too many versatile players at the position. The Aggies will be fine, but Hunt’s addition would have really made that an elite room had things gone through.
