Defensive back for Texas A&M football claims all-time confidence
One Texas A&M football defender is speaking bold words before their season opener.
Tyreek Chappell has all-time confidence in his team that they can be one of the best defenses in the league.
With familiar faces in the secondary, it's easy to see why Chappell has such high hopes for his peers on defense.
He came out with a bold claim that hopefully will come true for Aggie fans in 2024.
Chappell says Texas A&M Aggies are a "lockdown secondary"
This isn't the first time this offseason we've seen an Aggie defensive back speak with such confidence.
Last month, Aggie defensive back Bryce Anderson set his own high bar for his position.
One position that had Aggie fans in a frenzy was the cornerback position. Now, it looks as strong as any team in the SEC.
With Anderson feeling he can use his versatility at the safety position, Chappell's veteran experience and resume add on to a seasoned secondary.
There was also plenty of concern when there was talk about Chappell possibly moving on to another team using the transfer portal.
This may be the perfect debut year that any coach could've asked for. The combination of head coach Mike Elko and an experienced defense is about the best a team could ask for.
The only question for the defense will be how they will handle their depth up front. That might be the biggest concern to start out the season for the Aggies.
It's tough to find a team with experienced secondary. After all, the cornerback is arguably the toughest position in the game of football. Texas A&M is in good hands as long as their guys stay healthy on the defensive side.
With newcomer Riley Leonard from Duke, and with Elko watching his former quarterback from the opposite sideline, Texas A&M can crush Notre Dame in many ways throughout the game.
After all, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman still has to figure out his issue at the offensive line.
The secondary for Texas A&M will be tested early through the air, but the Aggies will be ready.
