Texas A&M football WR Jabre Barber “ahead of schedule” in recovery after spring leg injury
Texas A&M football fans got what is potentially some absolutely huge news on Tuesday afternoon during Mike Elko’s press conference. The Aggie head man, along with team leaders Conner Weigman, Noah Thomas, and Bryce Anderson, all met with the press ahead of fall camp kicking off tomorrow.
The Aggie faithful have been looking for answers at receiver for some time now. There is a lot of potential on the roster, but with the exit of Evan Stewart and Ainias Smith, there’s a lot less proven production than there had been recently.
The Aggie coaching staff has brought in several players to help build the depth on this roster over the course of the fall and spring. One of those players was former Troy WR Jabre Barber, who had been turning heads in spring camp before a leg injury looked to put him out for the season.
However, that may have been too hasty of an evaluation. Mike Elko, during his availability today, mentioned that Barber has been far ahead of schedule in his recovery.

This would be huge for the Aggies. Barber brings explosiveness and open-field juice as a true slot receiver, and would be a heck of a replacement for Ainias Smith.
Elko also mentioned Iowa transfer Jacob Bostick as a guy who has been playing well so far. If both he and Barber are viable options during the season, the depth at WR could be turning from a liability into a strength.
