Texas A&M Football: Elko Just Landed Four Commitments in One Day
Mike Elko Just Landed Four Commits for Texas A&M Football In One Day
Texas A&M football is in the midst of hosting a huge recruiting week on campus, with reportedly more than 20 visitors making their way to College Station starting on Wednesday and running through the weekend. With so many players coming in, and with many at positions of need, making moves in the immediate future was a priority for the Aggies.
It looks like Mike Elko has done just that. Yesterday, the Aggies' top portal target and last season's Big 10 leader in sacks, Nic Scourton, gave his commitment to Texas A&M football. That alone would have been enough to make it a huge recruiting day for the Aggies; however, they weren't done yet.
Before the day was done, the head coach for the Aggies had tweeted out three more times, indicating a commitment had occurred with each one. For those who don't follow him on Twitter, coach Elko has been tweeting this every time the Aggies make an addition from the high school or transfer ranks:
With four of these tweets coming in one day, the fanbase was all over the place guessing and trying to figure out who the other three new pledges were.
As of right now, we still are only aware of two of the four. Scourton announced early in the day, and then later in the evening, San Diego State S Marcus Ratcliffe announced that he would be flipping his commitment from UCLA to Texas A&M football.
The depth that coach Elko has continued to build in the defensive backfield is impressive and encouraging, given how threadbare things were in that part of the defense. The Aggies stand to add a few more names from that position group, and are hosting some notable names this weekend. It's very possible one of the other two commits is also a DB—we'll find out soon enough.
