Texas A&M football commit Jamar Beal-Goines makes huge jump in ratings; Now ranked as top player in Arizona
When CB Jamar Beal-Goines committed to Texas A&M football, something was off. Not about him or his commitment status, but rather with his ranking relative to the confirmed athletic testing numbers that we had.
The numbers in question: a 4.29 laser-timed 40-yard dash, 11.5-foot borad jump, a 42.5-inch vertical, and a 10.43 100-meter dash. As I wrote in my piece when he committed, these are numbers that would be the envy of the NFL combine, to say nothing of a high school recruit!
Yet, at that point, Beal-Goines was ranked by 247Sports as the 697th-best player in the nation and a low three-star. Watching the tape, in addition to his physical gifts, he is a sure tackler and has a nose for the ball. What gives?
Apparently, it truly was a simple lack of exposure. In the latest rankings update, Beal-Goines made a massive leap in the 247 in-house ratings from 697th to 181st. That's a low three-star to a mid-level four star prospect.
Texas A&M commit Jamar Beal-Goines is now a top-200 prospect nationally. About a 500 spot jump from his previous ranking.

Many believed once he got exposure this would happen. A really, really impressive prospect. pic.twitter.com/crxQbCgtnB
That ranking is good to place him as the top player in Arizona.
His composite ranking had a similar jump, though not near as dramatic—he went from the 435th-ranked player to the 310th-ranked player. This makes sense, of course: since the composite is made up of rankings from several different services, which all update at different times, it will be slower in catching up. With that in mind, though, a jump of even that magnitude is extremely notable.
If I had to guess, I think we see Beal-Goines continue to rise in the ratings. His senior season is ahead, and he'll have a bigger spotlight on him now as an Aggie commitment. Sometimes the services are slow with this kind of thing, but I foresee them coming around to his athletic gifts before all is said and done.
