Final injury update ahead of Texas A&M football's decisive matchup vs. Notre Dame
Final roundup of injuries ahead of Texas A&M football facing off with Notre Dame in massive season opener
Texas A&M football has been a team plagued by a high clip of injuries over the last several years. The 2022 season, of course, was the worst offender in this regard, especially at the quarterback position.
It has been the Aggies' signal callers, of course, who have been beset by issues in this past three-year period. Haynes King had all of one game under his belt when he suffered a season-ending injury in 2021. After an early-season debacle in 2022, his spot was ceded to Max Johnson, who broke his hand; King was then knocked out of a game against South Carolina, leading to Conner Weigman notching his first-ever start.
Weigman, as all Aggie fans know, suffered a foot injury in game four of the following season, after which Max Johnson was the starter... until an injury forced Jaylen Henderson to step in... until another injury forced Marcel Reed to finish the final game of the year.
Point being, Aggie fans have had their fill of unfortunate injuries. With the new, incoming strength coach Tommy Moffitt, fans are hopeful that the program's rate of soft tissue injuries will dramatically decrease.
Overall, it has been a pretty healthy offseason for the Aggies under this new coaching staff. There are two notable injuries to be aware of, but the Ags should be close to 100% ahead of this game against Notre Dame. Let's take a look at the injury report for each team.
Injury report for Texas A&M football
RB Rueben Owens - Out
WR Jabre Barber - Out
These are not two of the deeper positions on this Aggie squad, of course, but it feels currently that the Ags have decent backup plans in place for both of these guys.
Injury report for Notre Dame
OT Charles Jagusah - Out
DT Gabe Rubio - Out
CB Chance Tucker - Out
S Taebron Bennie Powell - Out
S Tae Johnson - Out
OL Styles Prescod - Out
Jagusah and Tucker are the two big names to know here. Rubio was depth on the DL, and the last three were all freshmen who were not anticipated to contribute this season, much less in this game.
