Texas A&M football roster predictions - LB: Taurean York, Daymion Sanford (Backups: Solomon DeShields, Scooby Williams)

This may have been the toughest position to decide on for the entire team—and that’s with one of these spots already on lockdown coming into these projections. Taurean York has cemented himself as a starter at linebacker and a leader of this team, and he isn’t going anywhere.

His play last year really opened the eyes of Aggie fans. Even as a freshman, he was making heady plays down in and down out, always being in the right spot at the right time.

Elko was already familiar with him and his potential from his time at Duke, so it wasn’t hard to predict that he’d be a starter. Since that point, he’s become a team captain, meaning his status is even further cemented on this squad.

The other spot is fraught with controversy. Williams, DeShields, or Sanford could all lay claim to a starting spot here. In the end, I went with the younger Sanford due to his freaky athleticism, even though I feel like Williams and DeShields both have a really good shot. I wouldn’t be surprised to see all three make an impact—especially Williams in the pass rush—but I’ll go with Sanford to start off the year.
