Who Were the Five Best NFL Prospects on This Past Season’s Roster for Texas A&M Football?

The record wasn't near what most Texas A&M football fans wanted this past year, but it wasn't that way because of the talent. Since the 2020 season, underachieving the talent level on campus was sadly a theme for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies, and this past year was further proof of that, especially offensively.

Even so, there were times where the talent was on display in its full glory. Especially early on in the season for the offense, and the middle of the season for the defense, you could see what it looked like when each unit was playing up near its full potential.

The Aggies have several players leaving the squad for the NFL draft after this year. Several of them have been invited to college All-Star games like the Senior Bowl, but the Aggies don't have a surefire first-rounder in the hopper at the moment (barring something crazy at a pro day or combine, that is). This is a decently strong draft class filled with playmakers for the Ags, but the top-shelf, first-round talent that you would hope to see is absent from it.

With that said, though, who were the best NFL prospects on the team this past year? They certainly weren't all draft-eligible, I'll say that. The Aggies have a huge amount of talent in the sophomore and freshman classes, some of whom haven't even seen the field for extended periods of time.

It would be easy to make this simply a list of the highest-rated high school players on the team and excuse it by saying I'm projecting their ceiling. With someone like David Hicks, that would almost be a valid argument, given just how high his ceiling is. But for this list, I tried to focus on a combination of traits/projections and proven production thus far.

There will be some controversial names here, to be sure. I'll say up front that neither five star who departed via the portal made the cut here, and it really doesn't have anything to do with sour grapes. Though both flashed at times, it often felt like there were certain things lacking, leading to each being outplayed by guys at their same position over the course of the year.

The Aggies have a wealth of talent on their team. Let's take a look at what in my opinion was the cream of the crop this past year.
