Five Best NFL Prospects on the 2023 Texas A&M Football Team: DE Shemar Stewart

Though just a sophomore this past year, Stewart already strikes onlookers as a guy possessing an NFL-ready build. Bob Sturm of 96.7 the Ticket in Dallas, one of the premier writers covering the Dallas Cowboys and the NFL draft, characterized Stewart as an “NFL prototype.”

Stewart has possessed elite physical traits ever since high school, which helped him see the field early and often for Texas A&M football. He jumps off the screen when you watch the Aggie defensive line; though he doesn’t quite yet have the stats to pair with his top-shelf potential, you can’t help but feel like a breakout is coming soon for Stewart.

An interesting note on Stewart is that he is a fair bit younger than most other guys in the class. He is actually much closer in age to the now-departed LT Overton, who reclassified up to join the 2022 class, than he was the other players that he came into College Station with.

Nonetheless, he was as big and as strong as anyone on the roster when he arrived. After three years in an S&C program, I think Stewart will have a huge season this fall and parlay that into a possible first-round draft selection.
