Five bold predictions for Texas A&M football vs. Notre Dame: Aggie defense reigns supreme?

With only two days remaining until gameday is finally here, Texas A&M football fans are more anxious than ever for kickoff. Having such a consequential contest as the first of the year only increases the nerves beforehand, as you might expect.

This promises to be one of the most entertaining games of the entire weekend, if not the entire year. Two squads both projected to be high-quality will be going at it in one of the most exciting venues in the sport. This kind of game is what college football is all about.

This Aggie team, specifically, is looking for retribution after two years of middling play. Under Elko, I think they can achieve that—and it starts Saturday. Here are five bold predictions for what we will see in Texas A&M football vs. Notre Dame.

Five bold predictions for Texas A&M football vs. Notre Dame: Irish finish under 100 yards rushing

The Aggie defensive line is a unit that has been well-known over the last few years for being absolutely packed with talent. They haven't always been able to properly leverage that talent, of course—their rush defense, in particular, was extremely subpar in 2022.

However, with Elko back in town, the Aggies look to once again have a top rushing defense. Every year that the new Aggie head man was the DC in College Station, the Ags were technically sound and tough to run on. Now, with even more skill in that unit than he had previously, Elko will no doubt lead another top unit against the run.

With as green of an offensive line as Notre Dame is bringing into this game, and the skill of the Aggie front, it could be tough sledding for the Domers up front. I feel confident these Ags can hold Notre Dame under 100 yards rushing, absent a big play in garbage time.
