Even in the wake of the former Texas A&M baseball coach’s betrayal, there are options the Aggies can pursue to upgrade at the position.

Coaching hires that will keep Texas A&M baseball on top: Brian O’Connor, University of Virginia

Now we arrive at my personal favorite on this list: Brian O’Connor. Currently the head man of the Virginia Cavaliers, O’Connor is one of the top coaches in the entire country. He won the national championship with the Wahoos in 2015, making him a rare coach who is both a champion and—in my estimation—very gettable.

O’Connor has made the College World Series six times and notched five fifty-win seasons. He boasts the highest winning percentage among active D1 coaches. Need I go on?

UVA’s commitment to athletics pales in comparison to Texas A&M baseball’s, so I think the Aggies have the ability to pluck him out of Charlottesville if they decide to make a real run at him. The only concern is that he is not an SEC guy, but given his success in all areas, I don’t think it would be as much of a concern with him.
