Five worst takes circling the internet after Texas A&M football loses to Notre Dame in tight top-25 matchup

Texas A&M football fans across the country have really been taking this loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish pretty hard. When you consider this was a game where you were tied with a top-10 team late in the fourth quarter, there's certainly been a disproportionate amount of angst out there.

That probably reflects, at least in part, the frustration of being just that close to taking home a huge, narrative-flipping win in game one of the Mike Elko era, but sometimes progression isn't linear. More likely, it reflects the consternation at certain pieces of this Aggie team not performing in the way that A&M fans expected.

That frustration, though, has led to some... interesting opinions. Here are the five worst takes out there after the Aggies suffered this recent loss.

5 worst takes after Texas A&M football's loss to ND: Weigman is washed

True, Conner did not exactly cover himself in glory in this game. Much less than that, he had maybe his worst performance of his career in the maroon and white.

That is true enough. However, the fans saying that he has simply lost it and is irrevocably cooked are—and stay with me here—maybe getting ahead of themselves just a tad.

We should probably wait until we see him against, I don't know, not the best defensive backfield in the country to render judgment. The quality of the defensive unit he was facing doesn't explain everything, of course, but we can't cut bait after one game.

I think the version of this that made me laugh the most was the very earnest people saying that the mentalist featured on College Gameday freaked him out, leading to an off night. I really don't think that he was wondering how the playing card got in his shoe when he was throwing those interceptions, guys.
