What to watch in Texas A&M football's spring game: Nic Scourton

There's no doubt about it: Scourton is the highlight of the entire transfer portal class. The leader in sacks from the Big 10 a year ago, the Bryan High School product eluded the Aggies out of high school, but Elko wasn't going to let him get away twice. One visit to College Station later, and Scourton had made his pledge to the Aggies.

It's easy to see why this guy is so highly anticipated by the A&M fanbase. He has the versatility to move all along the line, having put on quite a bit of weight since his high school days (something he and I have in common). His production is hard to argue with, coming in the second-best conference in the nation and against teams like Michigan and Ohio State.

Scourton has game-wrecker potential, as do several of these players on the Aggie defensive front. How much of that will we see on display in the spring game? If I had to guess, I think Scourton will give us a highlight or two to keep in our back pockets until August 31 rolls around.

Scourton makes this list by virtue of being maybe the most exciting defensive player on the roster ahead of next year—though guys like Shemar Turner, Bryce Anderson, and Taurean York will all have something to say about that before all is said and done. I'm excited to see how he stacks up in the spring game.
