Florida LB calls out Texas A&M football's Gator transfers: 'Just run at them'

Apparently, there's no love lost between these former Gator players, now with Texas A&M football, and Napier's current roster.

Florida's Shemar James already talking trash to Texas A&M football's Gator transfers ahead of Saturday's matchup

As most fans of Texas A&M football know, the Aggies brought in a pair of transfers from the Gators this offseason. LB Scooby Williams and DB Jaydon Hill were both staples down in Gainesville, but they were part of a significant contingent that departed after the dumpster fire that 2023 became for the Gators.

With the Aggies hiring a couple of former UF coaches, as well, it makes sense that they'd bring in some of these players who were leaving Gainesville. In the age of the transfer portal, that's the kind of thing you come to expect.

However, this is apparently not something that came without some hard feelings—at least on the Gators' side. UF linebacker Shemar James, a former teammate of Williams and Hill who shared a position group with Scooby, had plenty to say about the new Aggies in his media availability today.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel, Shemar?

He certainly didn't mince words with this comment. Aggie fans are also well familiar with the fact that Williams and Hill didn't exactly cover themselves in glory last year, but neither did any players on the UF defense, which absolutely cratered near the end of 2023.

In that vein, then, I imagine there are plenty of Gators who are convinced that Scooby and Jaydon are simply subpar players. To my eye, their struggles last season had a lot to do with structural issues with the defense rather than a lack of individual talent.

I guess we'll find out on Saturday. If there's really a weakness to be exploited, I expect UF to go for it as often as possible.
