Former Texas A&M basketball players Quenton Jackson and Dexter Dennis showing their stuff in NBA Summer League

Texas A&M basketball, for a school their size, hasn't been the most proficient at putting players in the league. There are some Aggies that everyone knows, of course: DeAndre Jordan, Alex Caruso, and Khris Middleton are three that come to mind. And there are a few on the current roster who could end up fitting well with whatever team decides to bring them in—Solomon Washington and Andersson Garcia are two that have eminently translatable skills.

There are still a couple of Aggies, though, who are on the fringes of the league—some players that starred for Texas A&M basketball and have been working their way up through the G-League to try and get their major shot. This is the path that Alex Caruso took, after all, and he is now a key piece on a championship contender.

Two guys that fit this description are second-year man Dexter Dennis and third-year man Quenton Jackson. It just so happens that those two faced off in the Summer League finale last night, and Q took this opportunity to go off, notching 22 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Talk about stuffing the stat sheet!

There's certainly opportunity to make a move in the Pacers depth chart for Q. Mathurin is a great young player at shooting guard, and Nembhard—though he's listed at PG—will often play the point when Haliburton is not on the floor, so I think Jackson could slide in as a backup SG quite nicely.

Dennis has a more quiet night in last evening's matchup, but he's been making some highlights of his own during Summer League. His supreme athleticism will make him an intriguing prospect for any team, not just the Cavs, and an improved offensive game should get him a shot soon.

Here's hoping we see these two signed to longer-term contracts soon. It's tough to crack a rotation in the NBA, but I have a feeling these two are well on their way.
