Former Texas A&M football players who may end up regretting decision to transfer
Former Texas A&M football players who may regret transferring - Anthony Lucas
Now go we bravely into those who have landed on their feet a bit more. Lucas certainly found a good spot in USC—the tradition and profile of the program is hard to downplay, as any college football fan should know.
Lucas, of course, was one of the freshman who received a suspension for the back half of 2022 after an incident following the South Carolina game. The others were PJ Williams, Denver Harris, and Chris Marshall, all of whom ended up transferring as well. Lucas was not announced immediately for some reason, but it became clear soon enough that he was the other player involved.
Reports emerged that he was the most likely of the quartet to remain in College Station following the season, as ending up in the portal seemed to be a foregone conclusion for the other three. However, he ended up departing as well, and is now out in sunny Los Angeles as a member of the... Big 10.
That's not a bad landing spot at all! However, last year presented something of an issue: Lucas, after a promising start to his freshman season in College Station, got next to no playing time on a pretty poor Trojans defense.
Just like with Adeleye, in retrospect, this could have been a huge season for Lucas had he stayed in College Station. With the return of Elko, and going into his junior season, Lucas could have been slated for a huge fall in the Maroon and White. He may still have a great 2024 for USC, but I personally think staying around might have behooved him.
