PFF ranks former Texas A&M football DE Myles Garrett as the best #1 pick of the last decade

Over the last ten years, there have been some real luminaries selected at the top of the draft, including former Texas A&M football star Myles Garrett. We’re talking names like Kyler Murray, Jadaveon Clowney, Joe Burrow, and more. This is quite the list, not only of big time college stars, but of players who have made a big impact in the league.

However, according to a list recently released by Pro Football Focus, there is one player who stands above the rest—a defensive end out of Texas A&M. Yes, the aforementioned Myles Garrett was ranked as the best #1 pick in the last ten years—no small feat.

According to PFF, it was a close call between Garrett and his divisional foe Joe Burrow for this distinction, but thanks to Myles’s “five straight years of elite PFF grades,” he got the edge over the Cincy quarterback. These two clearly stand above the rest, however, even though there are some big names to choose from.

This is well-deserved, as Garrett has truly been a force in the NFC North, and keeps getting better. This last year could have been his best yet, as he won Defensive Player of the Year in the league in 2023.

When all is said and done, it could very well be the case that Myles ends up as one of the greatest Aggies of all time when it comes to accomplishments in the league. His prowess as a pass-rusher is an area where I doubt anyone in the league can match him, though players like TJ Watt, Micah Parsons, and others can put up a good fight.

I’m glad Myles is getting his flowers here. Despite one ugly incident since he’s been in the league, he seems like a really great guy off the field and people enjoy playing with him. He’s a relentless force on the field, and represents the school well. I personally am hoping to see him as a guest picker for the Aggies’ week 1 showdown with Notre Dame, as the NFL preseason will be wrapping up that weekend.
