Injury update: Is Conner Weigman playing for Texas A&M football today?
Saturday morning injury update: Will Conner Weigman be able to play for Texas A&M football vs. Florida today?
Texas A&M football fans are anxiously awaiting an update on their quarterback, Conner Weigman, who has been listed as questionable on the injury report since Thursday. As game time gets nearer and nearer, fans are scouring social media and forums for possible updates on the injury situation.
Pete Thamel of ESPN reported this morning that Conner Weigman would be a game time decision.
The word around the fan base, while not confirmed, is that Conner’s injury is an AC sprain on his non-throwing shoulder. If that is indeed the case, then this is mostly a matter of pain management—while it will affect the kinds of hits he’s willing to take in the run game, it shouldn’t really affect his ability to throw the ball.
One thing to watch out for, if that is indeed the case, is the effect of a possible weather delay on the quarterback situation for the Ags. There’s some weather rolling through the Gainesville area at the moment, and if there is a pregame or midgame delay, then it could dilute the effectiveness of whatever pain management techniques the staff decides to use with Weigman.
Brett McMurphy has reported that, while Weigman is still questionable, fans should expect to see backup QB Marcel Reed at some point during the game.
We will keep an eye out for any official announcements and will update this article as more information comes in.
1 PM CT UPDATE: Weigman is out on the field for warmups and throwing, per Texags.
1:45 PM CT UPDATE: Conner Karels of GigEm247 is reporting that Weigman’s injury is, in fact, to his throwing shoulder.
This would indicate that Marcel Reed will likely be the choice at QB for today’s matchup.
UPDATE 2:25 PM CT: Karels is now reporting that Weigman is warming up with the first team.
What a wild ride!!!
