Texas A&M football could be bringing back black alternate uniforms for 2024
One thing that was noticeably absent from Texas A&M football during the Jimbo Fisher regime was mixing up the uniforms. Under Sumlin, the Aggies not only wore alternate uniforms regularly, but also changed up their combinations often—the "icy whites" being a staple during this period.
Outside of the throwbacks the Aggies donned against Kentucky in 2018, though, the Ags hardly ever switched up their look, except for the wholesale change that occurred from 2019 to 2020. After that point, the Aggies always wore Maroon-Maroon-White at home and Maroon-White-White on the road.
One of the favorite alternates of Aggie fans was the blackout combo that A&M donned against Mississippi State in 2012. So much so that—while that specific uniform has yet to make a return—Adidas outfitted the Ags in blackouts due to popular demand in 2015.
Now, with Fisher out the door, it's possible that the Aggies could be making a return to wearing alternates regularly. This would be a welcome change for A&M fans, as adding the alternates tends to give a game a little bit more juice—as long as it's done right, of course.
Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed the Aggies tipping their hand in this regard. As documented here by Robert Behrens of Good Bull Hunting, black versions of the normal Aggie uniform have begun to pop up both in store and online.
Update: the jersey is also listed online at Texas Aggie Bookstore, but this one appears to have a maroon SEC patch/sleeve numbers. This just might be happening, people.https://t.co/xvpdboKsYt https://t.co/IQBA213vVf pic.twitter.com/wNyjtLa334

As Behrens mentions, this is no guarantee that the Aggies will wear this uniform this season—we've had false starts like this in the past. However, given things that have been said even by Mike Elko himself, I think we see alternates soon—whether or not it's this specific jersey.
