Jace LaViolette gets scoring started for Texas A&M baseball with monster homer
Texas A&M baseball puts up another first-inning homer in College World Series final, this time from Jace LaViolette
Texas A&M baseball got an early score again in game two of the College World Series Final, again via the home run. This time, though, instead of leadoff man Gavin Grahovac, it was the Aggies' star Jace LaViolette.
This one was gone from the moment Jace connected with the bat. There's a reason LaViolette comes in with a power hitter reputation, and he put that on display here with that massive swing.
This was huge for the Aggies in more ways than one. Texas A&M baseball still has yet to trail here in Omaha, so getting out to another lead not only continues that streak, but gives the Ags a psychological edge. Not only that, though, but it was the first homer that Jace has hit in quite some time—as a matter of fact, he was 1-13 at the College World Series before that smash.
This was a big one for Jace personally from a big-picture standpoint as well. This was his 50th home run of his Texas A&M baseball career. He's second all-time in Texas A&M baseball history now, weith a full year left to play—there's little doubt he absolutely demolishes the school record before he heads to the big leagues.
The Aggies have still not scored again since LaViolette's big time hit, but the Vols are still drawing a blank for the game. Hopefully, we see Jace pour another one on, or another player in the Aggie lineup follow his first-inning lead here soon.
