Jahdae Walker flashes talent in Texas A&M football camp amidst intense WR competition
Could Jahdae Walker emerge as the top receiver for Texas A&M football going into the 2024 football season?
Near the end of the 2023 football season, as things began to deteriorate with Evan Stewart for Texas A&M football, the Aggies needed someone to step up at wide receiver. The man who answered that call was Grand Valley State transfer Jahdae Walker.
After showing some potential early on in the season—especially in the game against ULM—Walker ripped off a big stretch of games to close out 2023. Jahdae's November was excellent, recording 17 catches for 279 yards after coming into the month with only 10 catches for 174 yards on the year. He capped things off with a 8-catch, 137-yard performance in the bowl game to give him just under 600 on the year, with nearly three-quarters of that coming in the final five games.
For Texas A&M football fans, this helped ease the blow of losing a guy like Stewart to the portal. Walker had begun to outplay him towards the end of the season, and was beginning to step up in a major way.
Fast-forward to fall camp, and the Aggies are still searching for a guy to take up that WR1 mantle. There's been a lot of talk about the potential of the top three players at the position for the Ags, but maybe there hasn't been enough about Walker. Check out this clip that the Aggies posted from fall camp:
The Ags could have a star in the making on their hands with Walker. Check out the game tape from LSU and Oklahoma State specifically if you've forgotten just what kind of playmaker Jahdae is. Noah Thomas and Moose Muhammad are extremely skilled, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Grand Valley State transfer who becomes the go-to guy for the Aggies in 2024.
