Portal entries begin to pile up for Texas A&M baseball following Schlossnagle's flight to Austin

All Texas A&M baseball fans knew that this kind of thing was coming down the pike sooner or later. After Schlossnagle headed to Austin with his entire staff, the likelihood that all the players would simply remain in College Station without question seemed to be extremely low. That intuition is now coming to fruition, as the Aggies have had several key portal entries over the last few hours.

The highlights here are Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovac. Both of these players were key parts of next year's team, so to lose them would be a huge blow. Others include Kaeden Kent, Max Kaufer, and Jack Bell.

It's important to remember here that there is no extra window to enter the portal for the baseball players like there would be for football during a coaching change. Rather, the window closes for good on July 2, so you have to expect most that are at least even a little bit torn to enter in order to have the ability to weight their options.

What is imperative, then, is that AD Trev Alberts move very quickly to secure a top-flight coach for Texas A&M baseball. The staff that is now in Austin is the staff that recruited these players to College Station, and so it is extremely important that the Aggies have a coach in place that can make a case for these guys to stay.

All that to say, the Aggies will likely get some of these players back at the very least. It is exceedingly unlikely that they get every single one of them back, but it's entirely possible that they return the lion's share. Grahovac and LaViolette are the two obvious priorities so far, as well as doing whatever they can to prevent any and all players from heading to Austin.
