Kyle Field egregiously omitted from ESPN's list of top ten college football stadiums

Texas A&M football's legendary Home of the 12th Man should be a no-brainer for this kind of list—what in the world happened here?

Texas A&M football's Kyle Field criminally underrated by ESPN writers; Home of the 12th Man doesn't even make top 10

Sometimes you see these mid-summer lists while waiting for the first kickoff of the season for Texas A&M football, and you just have to shake your head.

One of the most tradition-rich home environments in the sport, Kyle Field is a legendary college football environment. The War Hymn, the yells, the sheer size of the place—it is exceedingly unique as a place to watch a college football game.

With that in mind, it makes sense that it is often numbered among the best stadiums in the sport. So when you see a list like this—one where Kyle doesn't even rank in the top 10—you have to wonder what was going through the minds of those who assembled it.

So, before we rip into this, we should look at the criteria, right? If you were looking for such a thing, though, you would be quickly disappointed to find that, at the top of the article, they declare "no parameters, no criteria."

Except which is... the best... I guess. Right.

Kyle Field slots in at thirteenth on this list, just behind... Army's Michie Stadium? This is so confusing.

Let's make the case here: Kyle is the largest stadium in Texas, which means it is the largest stadium in the world, since everything is bigger in Texas. Apologies to Runggrado May Day stadium and whatever the new cricket one is that they built a while back.

The stadium is iconic: the Home of the 12th Man nickname, the yells, the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band... Maybe they're docking points because we stopped playing Power at the beginning of games? People seemed to like that piece of things from that one video that got passed around all the time.

Against top-6 opponents at Kyle since 2020, the Aggies are 3-0 with wins over #4 Florida in 2020, #1 Alabama in 2021, and #6 LSU in 2022. That's not counting wins over #12 Auburn in 2021 and #13 Miami in 2022, as well.

This is one of the most recognizable, tradition-rich, exciting venues in the entire sport. Much more so than Notre Dame, Wisconsin, or Washington, all three of which landed higher on this list than Kyle.

The biggest travesty, though, is that the Kibbie Dome came in 26th, right behind Texas at 25. This is a clear case of vote padding in favor of the big guys.
