Kyle Field reportedly set to look quite different for Texas A&M football & Notre Dame

Texas A&M football fans are used to seeing the Home of the 12th Man looking a certain way since they’ve joined the SEC, but it looks like a switchup is coming.

Report: Texas A&M football set to get an on-field makeover for the 2024 season

There’s a lot for Texas A&M football fans to get excited for when it comes to the upcoming season. A new head coach and staff, as well as a remade roster and renewed rivalry, have Aggie fans buzzing about what’s possible for this year.

The refresh of the Aggie program has been far-reaching—and, reportedly, there will be a distinctive visual element as well. The hallowed halls of Kyle Field have had a specific look for fans at the game and watching on TV even predating the Aggies’ move to the SEC. Now, for this new era of Aggie football, the field is set to get a makeover.

The buzz about this started with this tweet from AggiesToday:

While vague, there were certainly fans that became very excited at this news. Theories began to be thrown back and forth of what the field may look like, with several pushing for the moniker “Texas Aggies,” a traditional name for the A&M sports teams, in the end zone.

This morning, a picture was posted of the field being painted, showcasing some of the details that will be present for the first game.

This looked a little bare bones at first, but another picture was posted this afternoon that showed the grounds crew adding a little bit of color to the outlines.

AggiesToday returned to Twitter later in the day to reveal the rest of the details: the state of Texas-shaped outline, filled in with maroon, behind the A&M logo will be at midfield, as we saw above. The end zones will say “TEXAS A&M” and also be filled in with maroon, after the last number of years had them with no fill.

Additionally, there will be a maroon outline around the field, and lines reading “Home of the 12th Man” and “G.R.I.N.D.”—an Elko mantra—will be along the sidelines.

This is a welcome visual refresh for the field after one look for quite some time. The rebrand is in keeping with the way the school has been branding itself recently, and I think it will help signify the new era that the football program is entering.
