Texas A&M football vs. Florida enters weather delay after first quarter: Live updates for Aggies vs. Gators
Texas A&M football and Florida have entered a lightning delay in their game after the first quarter.
The weather, however, isn't the only thing that has been tempestuous in Gainesville. Things have been all over the place with both teams' quarterback situation headed into the game.
The Aggies have Conner Weigman as their clear no. 1 at signal caller; however, due to an injury reportedly suffered against Notre Dame, he has been ruled out for today's game. That puts redshirt freshman Marcel Reed in the driver's seat for today's contest.
Reed looked good in the first quarter. There were a couple of miscommunications on route concepts and pre snap motion, but the A&M offense has produced ten points on two drives thus far.
Florida, on the other hand, is dealing with their own quarterbacking controversy. The Gators have Graham Mertz starting in this game over five-star true freshman DJ Lagway; however, directly before the delay began, Lagway came in for a drive. He only handed the ball off, however, and the back was planted by Nic Scourton.
The radar in Gainesville doesn't look amazing right now, but hopefully this will not be a long delay. The SEC policy is for a thirty minute delay after every lightning strike: twenty where the players are off the field, and ten for the players to get warmed back up. If there is another strike, then the timer resets.
Here's hoping no more delays occur, but we will keep this article updated as new info rolls in.
