The game between Texas A&M football and Notre Dame is one of the most hyped of the entire season. Up there as one of the top two or three non-conference games of the whole year, this contest between the Aggies and Irish headlines a loaded week one slate.
Given the furor and passion of the Aggie fanbase, you'd naturally expect Kyle Field, the Home of the 12th Man, to be absolutely packed. Early returns certainly seem to be indicative of a full house when the Irish come to town in just three days.
Excitement for a new coaching staff has to play in here as well. Elko and company have refreshed and rejuvenated this program, and they have Aggie fans believing that they can really make some noise this season if things go right.
Of course, you have to take things one week at a time. This week against the Irish will be one of the top challenges of the whole year for the Ags, and the fanbase is certainly responding as you might expect.
That response has been so resounding, as a matter of fact, that it has the head man himself going out on a limb.
Texas A&M football head coach Mike Elko predicts Kyle Field to boast nearly 108,000 fans vs. Notre Dame
During the Aggie Football Hour, a Wednesday night show that takes place during the season, Coach Elko intoned on what his expectations are for the crowd on Saturday night. He didn't hesitate to seize that opportunity.
That's certainly a bold prediction. That would put this game as a top-3 crowd by numbers in the entire history of the stadium.
Such a result would be beneficial to the Aggies, as the Irish have historically struggled in front of massive road crowds. The Ags are hoping that those struggles continue on Saturday.
