Moffitt's stamp is most encouraging note from Texas A&M football fall camp presser

There's clearly a new way of doing things for Texas A&M football in the offseason, and that was made clear in the Aggies' first presser of the fall.

Tommy Moffitt's work with Texas A&M football looking to pay off in short order under Mike Elko

The introductory fall press conference for Texas A&M football, as it is with many fanbases, is a great opportunity to sip on some Kool-Aid. The Aggies maybe have more reason than most at the moment, though, given the bright future full of possibilities that they have ahead, what with a new coaching staff and revamped program.

One of the biggest pieces of that revamp and reform under new head man Mike Elko is legendary strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt. Moffitt, formerly of LSU before he was let go by the ever-prudent Brian Kelly, is a legend in the S&C industry. Under his tutelage, the Tigers became one of the most well-conditioned and physically ready teams in the sport, year in and year out.

That's why it was such a coup for the Aggies to grab him—and the results are already being borne out in the program. Not only Elko, but the players today raved about Moffitt and the effect that he is having on the Aggie roster.

Elko mentioned specifically the observable physical difference in the team from when he came on campus up until this point. The team is just plain stronger—and part of that is that Moffitt is such an effective motivator that the players are much more apt to attend offseason workouts.

"“I don’t think we had a single kid miss a lift this summer. That’s… good.”"

Weigman went on about how Moffitt's attitude inspires the team, even when they are doing the most difficult workouts. That's no small potatoes in modern college football—and in the new-look SEC, especially, you need every single edge you can get.

As it might turn out, Moffitt may just give the Aggies the winning edge this year.
