Nic Scourton meets up with Texas A&M football pass rushing legends Von Miller and Myles Garrett to train ahead of 2024 season
Texas A&M football has a strong claim to the title of "Pass Rusher U" over the last decade or so. The Aggies have put two of the premier players at the second-most important position on the field into the league over that span.
I'm speaking, of course, of Von Miller and Myles Garrett. Both of these guys are premier names at a premier position, which is why they were a second and first overall pick, respectively, in their drafts. They have both lived up to the hype as well; Miller rode his skills all the way to a Super Bowl MVP, while Garrett is the reigning NFL AP Defensive Player of the Year.
In other words, if you're going to go to someone to hone your craft as a pass rusher, these are two of the best you could choose. Nic Scourton, who hopes to be the next in line of premier Aggie sack artists, is availing himself of the opportunity he has to meet up with Miller and Garrett.
That's a whole lot of talent in one photo.
Look, chances are—just purely statistically speaking—that Scourton won't be quite on the level of Garrett or Miller. That would mean he, quite literally, would have risen to the level of a top-2 pick in the NFL draft. With that being such rarified air for any athlete, we can't say that he is going to achieve it for sure.
But it's not entirely out of the question. Looking at what a destructive force he was up front for Purdue and how he looked in the Aggie spring game, I can see him shooting up draft boards here pretty presently. He's not a twitched-up, speedy off-the-edge type like Von or Myles, but he has plenty at his disposal to get the job done. I'm looking forward to seeing him work his craft in Kyle sooner rather than later.
