Power ranking the SEC after Media Days: #5 Texas Longhorns

Texas. 5. . 467. . . . team. . Previous ranking: 6

Wow, Texas moved up a spot! How exceedingly fair and unbiased of me, even here on an Aggie site. Hell has truly frozen over!

Look, this is a team that is likely 9-3, maybe 10-2. Floor is 8-4. Ceiling is 11-1, and I say that simply because there is no way they go 2-0 against OU and UGA back to back. They're dropping either one or both of those games.

I've made my thoughts on Texas rather clear for the most part. They have a lot of talent at receiver, but the turnover there is really concerning. Same thing with defensive tackle, minus the talent part. Defensive back is still going to be an issue. The fact that teams could barely run the ball on the Horns last year masked a lot of issues on the defensive back end, but these issues reared their heads whenever Texas faced an excellent passing team.

They haven't really gotten better there; in fact, they've probably gotten worse with the departure of Terrance Brooks. Point being, there's a lot riding on Quinn Ewers—quite a bit more than I think he can bear, as a matter of fact. Especially with the fact that people will be clamoring for Arch at a moment's notice. Imagine if the Horns QB throws multiple interceptions en route to a loss against Michigan in the Big House. You don't think there will be quite the outcry for Manning to take over by the time Red River comes around?
