Power ranking the SEC after Media Days: #13 Auburn

Auburn. . . Previous ranking: 12. . . . 13. . 525

Auburn has slid a spot, but that has less to do with my opinion of them lowering and more to do with someone moving up. I guess I would be best described as "still unconvinced" as regards a Payton Thorne-led passing attack, especially without the switchup of Robby Ashford to try to keep defenses off-balance.

Of course, the stable of receivers that he will be working with this year is far improved from the year prior. Cam Coleman will be a future star, as painful as that is for Aggie fans to hear.

That said, it's no use having guys running wide open in the secondary if you have a quarterback who can't get it to them, or one that is constantly on the run from pressure. The offensive line has to be better, first of all, and Thorne has to find some consistency.

The running game for the Tigers was well-underrated last year, and RB Jarquez Hunter should have yet another big season. Maybe Freeze, now calling plays (thus starting once more the same elegant carousel as Gus had going on the plains a couple of years back), can get something going in the ground game. Or maybe not!
