Power ranking the SEC after week 1: Who's moving up and down after a blockbuster first week of college football?

There's always a lot to discuss in the SEC after a given week of college football, and therefore plenty to consider when making power rankings. My last list was made directly following SEC Media Days, so it's been a while, but the previous rankings will show up as you peruse this new edition.

This was a week where teams really had a big opportunity to make a statement—some rose to that challenge, like Georgia, and some failed to do so, like the Aggies. Most teams, though, played what was essentially a preseason game against a nobody opponent.

So, who improved their stock the most? Who fell the furthest? Let's take a look.

Power ranking the SEC after week 1: No. 16 - Florida

The Gators looked absolutely appalling against Miami. While they weren’t a complete disaster from start to finish, once they moved out of the scripted drives on offense, they could hardly do anything. That’s to say nothing of the putrid defense we saw, either.

Miami looked like a machine on offense with Cam Ward, yes. But that doesn’t excuse the lack of effort that was clearly present so much of the time on that side of the ball.

It wasn’t just lack of effort, though—it was lack of pride. This Gator team began to give up before the game was over. There were several glaring examples, including guys all but coming to a full stop instead of trying to chase down an interception return by the Canes.

Things are getting dire in Gainesville. Napier and his staff, as well as the players themselves, need to take a good, long look in the mirror as they move towards what could be a disastrously bad record this year against a really tough schedule.
