Power ranking the SEC after week 1: No. 5 - Texas A&M

I’m hedging against the performance we saw from Weigman a bit here, but a close game against a top-10 team can’t move you down too far, even if it was a loss. The Aggie defense looked stout for most of the game, but there were certainly a couple of busts.

I’ve broken this one down a lot of different ways already, but long story short, I don’t think we see a pass game as poor as that one again out of this team. That was already an uncharacteristic game from Conner, but it’s also the best defensive backfield the Aggies will see all season.

The Ags will have an opportunity for a bounce back win against McNeese before they head out to Gainesville in week 3 against an apparently moribund Gators squad. This should give Klein, Elko, and company some time to work out some of the issues they had against ND.

We’ll see what lies in store, but the Aggies did—believe it or not—do some good things in game one. I think they can build on those and fix up the issues we saw before the next big game.
