Power ranking the SEC after week 1: No. 10 - Auburn
Like I said before, big wins over terrible teams, most of the time, won’t move me much. You won’t usually get a lot of movement in these power rankings if you’re just taking care of business in that sense.
However, I’ll try to watch the specifics to see how well questions I have about a program may or may not be answered in games like these. In this instance, I think it’s fair to say that Payton Thorne will have a lot better receivers to throw to this year—which was one of my biggest questions coming into the season.
Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson really lit it up in the receiving game for the Tigers. We already knew that Coleman was a monster, but it looks like Auburn has a couple more guys who can help Thorne out—which was desperately needed after what we saw last year.
I think Auburn starts 4-0 with ease, but the OU game will really be a measuring stick. Luckily for the Tigers, they get the Sooners at home. That’ll be a really entertaining watch for fans, and it will tell us a lot about who these Tigers really are.
