Here's how the SEC power rankings shake out after a quite eventful week 2 in the conference.

Power ranking the SEC after week 2: #4 Ole Miss

. . Previous ranking: 4. . 4. . 532. b. .

Another week, another blowout of a bad team. Ole Miss beat up on Middle Tennessee 52-3, which you may be forgiven for not realizing, as a good team destroying a bad team doesn’t really grab headlines on a day like Saturday. The Rebels have no challenges coming down the pike until… I guess when they travel to Columbia, SC?

Seriously, listen to this slate: Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, South Carolina, LSU, OU, Arkansas, UGA, Florida, MSU. That’s an 11-1 schedule if I’ve ever seen one.

If Kiffin can keep out of his own way, this Ole Miss team has as good of a shot as any at getting into the SEC Championship. It really does all come down to that game versus the Bulldogs, which is no easy task.

The Rebels seemed to be nowhere near the quality of the Dawgs when they last met, but Kiffin and company are hoping that they’ve improved enough to take care of business better this time around. I’m still skeptical of the fundamental nature of this system when going up against a defense as athletic as Georgia’s, but we’ll just have to see how it shakes out.
