Power ranking the SEC after week 2: #15 Florida

15. . . b. Previous ranking: 16. . . . . 526

Florida looked fine enough against Samford. There’s a way that certain teams try to play lower-level squads, where they just pull out all the stops and go bombs-away to run up the score as much as possible (see Auburn against Alabama A&M last week), and that’s what UF elected to do.

This was the one guaranteed win on the Gators’ schedule this year, and they took care of business. However, it really doesn’t well answer any of the questions we have about the Gators—and any answers we’ve gotten may not be great ones.

Here’s what I mean: these types of games can be opportunities to get live reps for players and sets that need work—things that will be practical going forward. Instead, Napier had his five-star QB just chuck it downfield to put up a big number. I don’t really know if that’s what they needed to do in this game.

The Gators have a decisive home matchup versus Texas A&M this week. Can UF make something happen in this one? If not, it could be a long year in Gainesville, and Napier’s days may be numbered.
