Power ranking the SEC after week 5: #1 Alabama

The new boss is same as the old boss, as Ralph Russo put it on Twitter. Everything that is old is new again, apparently.

This is not the same Alabama of old, though. Their offense is way more innovative than it was over the last few years with guys like Bill O’Brien coordinating the attack, now that they have Kalen DeBoer as head man.

If you haven’t seen it, somehow, the Tide have a complete revelation at wide receiver in seventeen year old Ryan Williams, who pulled a move right out of the matrix in order to give the Tide the go-ahead score. Along with other stalwarts like Kendrick Law, the Tide offense looks as formidable as ever.

Their defense hasn’t suffered nearly the dropoff we thought they might, either. Carson Beck carved them up in the second half, but they looked impressive physically up front and managed to turn over the Dawgs four times.

The first big test is now behind them; can they keep it up? We’ll have to see.
