Power ranking the SEC after week 5: #9 - LSU

LSU wrapped up their non-conference slate this weekend with a decisive win over South Alabama, winning 42-10. The Tigers packed it in early in this one, ready to head into the bye at 4-1 and awaiting a big game against Ole Miss on the other side.

There’s quite a decent chance that LSU can emerge victorious from that game, too. The Rebels have the Tigers as the second half of a back-to-back road trip in the SEC, which are notoriously difficult to go 2-0 on, and the Bayou Bengals have a week of rest headed into that one.

We could well see a repeat of last year’s barn-burner between the Rebels and Tigers at that point, given how poorly LSU’s defense has been playing. Ole Miss’s has put up better numbers, but looked very vulnerable against a pretty bad Kentucky offense.

That said, they did hold South Alabama to their fewest points of the year, by far. That’s… something, right? I don’t know.
