Power ranking the SEC after a week 6 filled with upsets: Aggies move up, Alabama, Tennessee slide
That was an exhilarating week six of SEC football. The upsets around the conference prove that you cannot take a week off as a member, even if you're playing Vanderbilt. This season, maybe especially if you're playing Vanderbilt.
Still, it was shocking to see a team like Vandy actually pull that off. Heck, it was even shocking to see Arkansas do the same. But you can't overstate what wins like that mean to those programs going forward.
So what do we make of the conference at this point? Who's rising, who's falling? Let's power rank the teams.
Power ranking the SEC after week 6: #16 - Mississippi State
The Bulldogs are still at the bottom of the heap after their bye week. As it turns out, after checking the tape, this is still, in fact, a team that got blown out by Toledo.
This could be one of the absolute worst non-Vanderbilt SEC teams that we’ve seen in quite some time. Advanced metrics have them as a team nearly in the triple digits as far as their place in the ratings, which is remarkably bad even for Mississippi State.
I get that this year is kind of a wash for Lebby anyway, but he’s going to have to at least show the Bulldog faithful that he can threaten some of these bigger teams at some point for there to be any momentum at all going forward.
