Power ranking the SEC after week 6: #14 - Auburn

Well, the Tigers made it closer than it should have been for a decent amount of time down in Athens, and that’s more than I think most of us really expected. There was a point where it seemed like Auburn may have even been threatening to take the lead!

Of course, they did not. The Tigers were likely hoping to take advantage of a UGA hangover in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, given that Georgia was coming off that big game against Alabama. Whatever fogginess was present, though, ended up being dissipated by the middle of the second half.

As we saw elsewhere, not every team was quite that lucky when it comes to working themselves out of a letdown spot. Georgia, all things considered, is probably feeling thankful they made off as well as they did.

Auburn now limps into the bye week at a paltry 2-4. Some games on the schedule that previously seemed like layups, too, are now looking a lot more intimidating. Hugh Freeze’s team could well miss bowl eligibility this year.
