Power ranking the SEC after week 6: #10 - LSU

Like OU, the Bayou Bengals’ lone loss just keeps looking worse and worse. Southern California has now lost two straight, to Michigan and Minnesota, after looking early on like they may be a playoff shoo-in.

LSU themselves are currently staking their resume on a win over South Carolina… which also keeps looking worse. I guess the win over 1-5 UCLA may be a point of pride as well? South Alabama?

The Tigers have a lot of offensive weapons, but the conundrum of what they are going to do with their defense is a complete head-scratcher. Harold Perkins and Jacobian Guillory are out for the year, leaving an already-susceptible defense almost completely hamstrung.

All this adds up to what could be an extremely fun shootout coming up against the Ole Miss Rebels. It’s very rare for an SEC team to win back to back conference road games, and the Tigers are coming off of a bye, so this is a sneaky good spot for the Tigers to get a signature win. But that could be just as much the result of circumstances conspiring to aid Brian Kelly’s team as much as it is their actual quality.
