Power ranking the SEC after week 4 - #7: South Carolina Gamecocks

. . . 533. b. Previous ranking: 8. 7. . .

Akron or no Akron, it was impressive for the Gamecocks to win as decisively as they did with Robby Ashford in at quarterback. Against LSU last week, SC looked like they could hardly complete a forward pass with the Auburn transfer behind center.

The Gamecocks will rest up this week, as is sorely needed for QB LaNorris Sellers especially. Then, they play host to the Ole Miss Rebels—though this may be a bump in the road to the Rebs, SC fans will want blood after Kiffin poaching star WR Juice Wells this past offseason.

Shane Beamer looks to have one of his better teams of his tenure going in Columbia this year, thanks in large part to the pass rush provided by Georgia Tech transfer Kyle Kennard and freshman Dylan Stewart. The rushing ability of Arkansas transfer Rocket Sanders plays in big here as well.

The Gamecocks will have plenty of chances to slay a giant this year, what with the aforementioned Ole Miss game, trips to Alabama and OU, and visits from Missouri and Texas A&M. Start stringing together some wins in this stretch, and you may have something special going in SC.
