We're beginning to get a much better idea of who some teams are, but some SEC football teams remain shrouded in mystery.

Power ranking the SEC after week 4 - #10: Missouri Tigers

Previous ranking: 7. . . 10. 531. . . b. .

I am perhaps planting this flag prematurely, but it’s beginning to feel like Missouri’s consideration as a top team may be a bit of manufactured consensus from the offseason. They have not really looked very impressive so far this year; after blanking their first two opponents in Murray State and Buffalo, they’ve been in late-game white-knucklers against both Boston College and Vandy.

Now, I know those aren’t your average BC and Vanderbilt squads. But they are still teams that a top-10 squad should dispatch much more easily than the Tigers have over the last two weeks.

They get the benefit of a bye week this Saturday before venturing down to College Station for their first road test of the year. At the current rate, that looks like a definitive loss for the Tigers, especially if the Aggies are not starting a backup in that game.

Of course, maybe this is a grand conspiracy wherein Mizzou decided to hold all their best plays and prepare for A&M since before the season began, simply coasting against the first five teams on the schedule. But, uh, probably not. I think.
