Projecting Texas A&M football’s depth chart ahead of spring practice kicking off

The Mike Elko era is about to begin on the practice field for Texas A&M football, and there is no shortage of questions surrounding the Aggies. Indeed, they are one of the most intriguing teams in the entire nation for the upcoming season due to the massive amounts of talent on campus that, at least perceivably, the former coaching staff was unable to capitalize on.

The team is now infused with a large amount of transfers. However, the majority of them came on the defensive end; specifically at defensive back. Only nine of the transfers for Texas A&M football on campus so far are offensive players, and five of those are either TEs or OLs. Three WR transfers came in, as well as one running back.

Who will crack the depth chart? Who will remain standing at the top of the list once Mike Elko's first spring is over with in College Station? Let's take a look.

Projecting Texas A&M football's depth chart: Quarterback

QB1: Conner Weigman
QB2: Jaylen Henderson
QB3: Marcel Reed

No surprises here. Mike Elko said today in his media availability that the top option for the Aggies would be the young star Weigman, though he is not yet fully recovered from his season-ending injury that took place in the fourth game of the 2023 season.

Max Johnson left for UNC, so that leaves Henderson and Reed, both of whom ended up seeing time for the Aggies. Both dazzled, Reed especially in a tough situation in the bowl, but I think Henderson's experience edge keeps him as the first backup option... for now.
