Projecting Texas A&M football's spot in the updated AP Top 25 poll after week 3

After a big road win to move to 2-1, it looks like Texas A&M football will be moving back into the AP top 25 today.

Where will Texas A&M football be ranked in the AP top 25 poll?

Texas A&M football resoundingly defeated Florida yesterday on the road by a score of 33-20, which doesn't quite do justice to just how dominant that win was. The Aggies ran roughshod over the Gators, racking up 310 rush yards on 55 attempts.

Aggie QB Marcel Reed was the story of the day. Pressed into service following Conner Weigman reportedly aggravating an existing injury in the middle of the week, Reed showed out in the Swamp, averaging a whopping 10.5 YPA through the air and 6.4 YPC on the ground.

For the last couple of weeks, the Aggies have been right on the verge of the rankings, being the first team out in week 2 and the third team out in week 3. After some results yesterday, I think the Ags will make a move up into the rankings come today's poll release.

Two teams in the 20-25 range will fall out for sure: 24 Boston College and 20 Arizona. The Golden Eagles really shouldn't tumble after a good showing in CoMo against the top-10 Tigers, but the poll rarely displays such nuance. Arizona got steamrolled on Friday night against Kansas State, so they should be solidly out.

That leaves a couple of spots open, and I think A&M will occupy one of them. I could see them jumping NIU, Nebraska, or ISU, even though all three are undefeated. I think the win in the Swamp showed what the Aggies can be, and that will serve them well in the minds of the voters.

I've got the Aggies coming in here at 22nd, right ahead of NIU (who was idle this week). They'll fly under the radar this week with a game against Bowling Green before taking on Arkansas in Jerryworld. Get through that one, and it will no doubt be a ranked-on-ranked matchup when Missouri comes to town on October 5.
