Ranking Texas A&M football's wins over Arkansas since joining SEC: 2020 (42-31)
This is another one where the game was never really as close as this final score indicates. Sam Pittman’s first Arkansas team was interesting, but not very good, and this Aggie team would finish 4th in the AP top 25.
We got our first look at what exactly Devon Achane could do in this game, as he zoomed into the end zone for a late touchdown that put the Aggies up 42-17. His easy coasting past defenders was eye-opening for a lot of A&M fans, and his potential as an RB1 was clear.
A&M ended up running power into a loaded box pretty much every single play after that point, allowing Arkansas to get a few more offensive possessions in which their 1s scored against the Aggie 2s. Jimbo was just trying to salt the game away, but it did grate on the nerves of some Aggie fans.
In another “I forgot he played QB there” instance, it was Felipe Franks at signal caller for the Hogs in this one. He put up decent numbers, mostly to star WR Treylon Burks, but ended up being outshone by Kellen Mond.
