November 30, 2024: Texas A&M Football vs. Texas Longhorns

Here it is. Mark it on your calendars and start warming up your vocal cords now.

I want to start with this: on the SEC broadcast, they mentioned that some of the games on this final weekend may be shifted back a couple of days and take place on either Thanksgiving (the 28th) or Black Friday (the 29th). It's not out of the question that this contest returns to its traditional date of Turkey Day. As of right now, though, this one is slated for the final day of November.

I don't think I need to spill much digital ink on how big this game is for both parties. After over a decade since these two teams played in one of the most heated rivalries in the entire sport, we finally have a date that it will be renewed.

Because of that, this is one of the biggest games narrative-wise of the entire year. If the Aggies win, it'll be vindication for the idea that they've transcended the Longhorns in this time off; if the Longhorns win, it'll be "just like the Mack days!"

This will likely be make-or-break in a certain sense for Sark, who will doubtless be overseeing a team that will have stumbled here and there in unforeseen spots, as is the nature of things in the SEC as compared to the Big 12. This will be a chance to establish dominance for Elko in his first year in a game that will have massive recruiting implications going forward.

One thing is for sure, though. I can hardly wait.
