Texas A&M baseball's Jace LaViolette ranked as top prospect for 2025 MLB Draft

Texas A&M baseball fans who follow the team closely know just how valuable of a player Jace LaViolette is. The hard-hitting outfielder is en route to shatter the home run record in College Station next year under head man Michael Earley, not to mention the fact that he hardly ever muffs a defensive play.

With the 2024 MLB draft now behind us, it looks like seamheads all across the country will soon be well-familiar with Jace's name. In an early ranking of the top prospects for next year's Major League Baseball draft, LaViolette was named as the top amongst his peers.

This is a well-deserved honor for LaViolette, who has absolutely been crushing it, both metaphorically and literally, since he arrived in College Station. Though he had an ill-timed slump through most of the CWS, he was an integral part of the best team to ever take Olsen Field, and stood out in the College World Series final.

According to the article, though, as things stand, this is a razor-thin margin for Jace. Picking a top player among the rest "has never been more challenging," and a surefire number one "has just not emerged yet from the 2025 college crop." A la last year's top name in Jac Caglianone, though, I think LaViolette has the ability to take even one more step from his second to third year, thus tightening his grip on the top overall spot in the nation.

No matter what happens, it's hard to imagine Jace sliding too far from this spot. Especially under Earley, I think we see LaViolette's hitting continue to shine for the Ags, and he will be a no-doubt top five—if not top overall—selection come next year's draft.
