Texas A&M baseball pitching gets huge boost for the future as Isaac Morton announces his return to Aggieland

Texas A&M baseball under Michael Earley has had absolutely no trouble pulling in top players so far. The Aggies have notched commitments from several portal prospects that are the envy of every program in America, including Gavin Kash and Wyatt Henseler.

Not only that, but this Aggie baseball staff has been proficient in bringing back those players who were wavering once Jim Schlossnagle left the program. Gavin Grahovac, Jace LaViolette, Kaeden Kent, Caden Sorrell, and others have all announced their intentions to return to Aggieland—each a huge win, as every program in the country was after these guys.

Now, the Aggies add another big time arm to their returning contingent. Isaac Morton—not a guy who contributed a lot this year, but one whose future is as bright as anyone on the team—has indicated that he will be playing for Earley’s squad next year.

Morton is a player who will likely be a big piece of the reliever rotation this upcoming year, and, if his development continues apace, will grow into a full-fledged starter by the year after. In other words, this is no small potatoes. His ceiling is as high as anyone’s on the team.

There will be a battle among he and the rest of the pitching staff for who will be considered the “ace” of this team for the upcoming year, but I don’t think Morton will grab hold of that mantle firmly yet this year. However, he could surprise us with a huge jump under new pitching coach Jason Kelly.

Welcome back, Isaac! This team just keeps looking more and more like a big time favorite headed into next season.
